The Mustang Magic Youth Challenge, hosted by Mustang Champions in partnership with the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, is an exciting new event giving young trainers the opportunity to showcase the incredible ability and trainability of America’s wild mustangs!
This competition is open to youth ages 9–17 who adopt or purchase a qualified Bureau of Land Management (BLM) mustang, two years of age or younger, between August 1 and September 20, 2025. Only 15 youth competitors will be selected for this exclusive event, so don't miss your chance to be part of something extraordinary!
How It Works
Apply online before July 1, 2025
Adopt or purchase your competition mustang at an approved BLM event or facility.
Train your mustang using humane, compassionate methods.
Compete in Fort Worth, TX at the legendary Will Rogers Memorial Center
in January 2026!

Eligibility
Youth ages 9–17 at the time of application.
Mustangs must be adopted or purchased from an approved BLM facility or event.
Mustangs must be 2 years old or younger at the time of adoption/purchase.
Parents or guardians will assist with the adoption process.
Note: Competitors must commit to humane training practices and follow all event rules to ensure the health, safety, and success of both horse and handler.
Competition Details
Competitors will showcase their skills across three in-hand classes:
Showmanship
Trail
Freestyle
Each class is designed to demonstrate the mustang’s willingness, confidence, and connection with their trainer. No riding is permitted — this is all about partnership and communication from the ground!
Awards
Every youth competitor will receive a $1,000 award, and the Champion will be honored with a custom buckle! Additional prizes and recognition may be announced as the event approaches.
